Koolat Safety is conducting a Summer School on the Gold Coast which will include a Tower Crane Formal Training Course from the 25th January to 29th January 2010. A Mobile Slewing Crane Course will be held from the 18th to 22nd January 2010. Demolition Theory and Application is to be conducted from the 18th to 20th Jan 2010. Forklift (27th to 28th Jan) and Elevating Work Platform courses (20th to 21st Jan) are also available during the Summer School. |

NEW QUEENSLAND
DEMOLITION LICENCE
Koolat Safety has been delivering the new Demolition Course that has been a regulated requirement since Feb 2009. Queensland Demolition tickets are no longer valid and need to be replaced by doing the new course 30765QLD and providing additional evidence of being a "Competent Person". Businesses conducting demolition need to have a competent person as well as insurances etc in place before they will be issued with a Demolition Business Licence. NEW QUEENSLAND
SWING STAGE COURSES
Koolat Safety is approved to deliver the following Qld swing stage courses. The first two courses are required under the Qld Scaffold Code of Practice 2009. Three (3) weeks notice of the training date is to be supplied to Workplace Health & Safety Queensland.
30826QLD Course in the safe use of swing stage scaffolds. 14 hours. This course is designed to assist in the safe use of swing stage scaffolds. Target group would include maintenance personnel, painters, concrete patchers & window cleaners.
30781QLD Certificate III in the Operation of a Swinging Stage Scaffold. Advanced Scaffolders/ Advanced Riggers should be able to RPL this Certificate III if they already hold a Certificate III in Scaffolding or Rigging and successfully complete 30825QLD. Contact Koolat Safety for more details.

NATIONAL ASSESSMENT INSTRUMENTS STILL IMMINENT
Queensland's National Assessment Instruments for the new CPC08 and TLI07 National Training Packages have been imminent for quite sometime now. In October 2009, RTOs were informed that the National Assessment Instruments were imminent but we are not sure of the degree of imminency. |

NEW SOUTH WALES
NATIONAL ASSESSMENT INSTRUMENTS TO BE REVIEWED
The NSW National Assessment Instruments are being reviewed by NSW accredited assessors. RTOs have not been invited to be part of the review process for the new assessment instruments. Refer to the Easy Guide Editorial
We have accredited assessors who cover all licence classes and are available throughout NSW.

VICTORIA
TO COMMENCE RTO SYSTEM IN JULY 2010
The changeover to the RTO and VET system commences in Victoria on I July 2010. This late change was due to delays in releasing the High Risk Work licensing assessment instruments by SafeWork Australia.

WESTERN AUSTRALIAN
NATIONAL ASSESSMENT INSTRUMENTS TO BE RECALLED
WorkSafe received adverse feedback about the technical content of the new assessment instruments. A significant amount of feedback was in relation to potential content errors. Other states had similar feedback and it has been recognised that prompt action needed to be taken to review and re-introduce the instruments.

Construction:
Trainers and assessors with accreditation from state regulatory bodies are required by Koolat Safety to train and assess in the occupations of dogging, rigging, scaffolding, all cranes, hoists, forklifts,EWP, earthmoving and general safety inductions. The ability to be able to conduct other courses such as Work Safely at Heights, Confined Spaces, or any competencies from National Training Packages would be viewed favourably.
Applicants need a minimum of a TAA40104 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or the ability to attain, and the licence to perform high risk work in the competency they wish to train and assess in.
Trainers and Assessors
Oil & Gas
South East Asia:
Oil and Gas:
Koolat Safety is seeking trainers/assessors with experience within the Oil and Gas sector, who hold crane operator and/or banksman or rigger experience.
These positions will require the applicant to be an approved trainer/assessor with a state regulatory body in Australia, have an ABN, Professional Indemnity and Public Liability Insurances. We have offshore training positions available in South East Asia. The ability to communicate in Bahasa Malay would be an advantage. Applicants will need a minimum of a TAA40104 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and a licence to perform high risk work in the competency they wish to train and assess in. Certificate III Technical Qualifications along with 5 years practical experience is also required.
