Course Description
Assisted Self-paced Learning
Koolat Safety has adopted a similiar delivery format for General Construction Induction as a number of other RTOs and now utilises a self paced learning strategy.
This course is available 7 days a week, 7am - 7pm at a cost of $80.00. Please indicate your preferred times when booking online.
Weekend bookings - should you prefer to attend on the weekend, bookings are essential with available times being limited. Please contact our office for more details or to make a booking.

Course Objectives
This course provides new building and construction industry participants with the introductory understanding and knowledge needed to commence or continue work in the building and construction industry.
Participants will acquire knowledge in the following areas:
- appropriate legislative requirements and resposibilities
- basic concepts of workplace health and safety plans and work method statements
- physical building and construction hazards
- basic risk management concepts including hazard identification, assessment of risk, control of risk and evaluation of control measures
- the hierarchy of controls (eliminate, substitue, redesign, isolate, administrate and use of personal protective equipment (PPE))
- emergency procedures
Course Prerequisites
Students are required to provide photographic ID in the form of original or certified copies of:
- Current and valid drivers licence issued by an Australian State of Territory or
- an 18 plus card or
- a current and valid passport or
- school identity card

Proof of having participated in the general construction induction course and successfully completed the assessment for such course shall be evidenced by a Statutory Declaration made by the course participant in accordance with part 4 of the Oaths Act 1867 (QLD) declaring:
- that the participant has identified themselves truthfully for the course undertaken; and
- that the work submitted during the course was the participants own work; and
- that the participant has received no assistance from anyone else (other than the trainer of the course) in the completion of an assessment; and
- in the case of face to face course delivery, the time, date and venue of the course udertaken by the participant and the name of the person who conducted the training.
Koolat Safety will have available a Justice of the Peace / Commissioner of Declaration at each course to assist with the completion of the Statutory Declarations as required by Workplace Health and Safety QLD licence agreements.
*Students should have basic reading and writing skills (to be able to identify and interpret workplace signs)
