Course Description

This course will provide the trainee with basic training with scaffolding. The program will cover:

  • Prefabricated scaffolds;
  • Scaffold associated with perimeter safety screens and shutters;
  • Cantilevered hoists; ropes; gin wheels;
  • Safety nets and static lines;
  • Bracket scaffolds (tank and formwork);
  • Cantilevered crane loading platforms;
  • Barrow ramps and sloping platforms;
  • Mast climbers; Hung scaffolds, including hanging from tubes, wire ropes and chains;

Course Objectives

This course is designed to provide trainees with the structured training component that, in conjunction with sufficient verifiable practical experience, will prepare students for assessment in the prescribed occupation of Basic Scaffolding (SB).



Course Prerequisites

Training is offered to students under the age of 18, however, in order to obtain their qualification and licence, they must be 18 years and over. Participants are advised to hold intermediate numeracy, literacy and communication skills to read and comprehend written instructions.

The participant needs to be able to work at heights and perform physical tasks.

Trainees also require the following items:

· Scaffold key (box Spanner)
· Podger Hammer
· Spirit Level
· Tape Measure
· Scaffold belt (with frogs and holders for the above equipment)

These form the basis of a Scaffolders trade tools.

Students are to wear STEEL CAP SAFETY BOOTS

Students must bring;

  • hard hat
  • safety vest and safety boots
  • log book completed and sign off by a licenced scaffolder
    Students must bring photo identification (such as a passport or drivers licence) to register for this course.
